ISO/IEC 17025:2017 establishes comprehensive requirements for laboratory management systems, technical competence, measurement traceability, and quality assurance enabling laboratories to demonstrate capability to produce technically valid results supporting product quality and regulatory compliance.

The previous version of the international standard for testing and calibration laboratory competence. While this version established important requirements for laboratory management and technical competence, it has been SUPERSEDED by ISO/IEC 17025:2017. Organizations can still maintain 2005 certifications during transition periods, but should upgrade to the 2017 version for current best practices and international recognition.
