Canada’s national industry association for biotechnology companies. BIOTECanada (stylized as “BIOTECanada”) represents Canadian biotech firms in health, agriculture, and industrial biotech. It supports over 250 members including startups, established biopharma companies, research institutions, and regional biotech clusters. The association advocates for a supportive innovation ecosystem in Canada (e.g. tax incentives, regulatory efficiency, access to capital) and promotes Canadian biotech on the world stage. BIOTECanada also runs programs to mentor emerging companies and facilitate partnerships in the life sciences sector.

CANIFARMA represents the major pharmaceutical manufacturers operating in Mexico, including both international drug companies and Mexican laboratories. It works closely with health authorities on drug regulations, quality standards, and healthcare policy. CANIFARMA promotes investment in local production of medicines and vaccines, and the development of Mexico’s pharma supply chain. The chamber is a key interlocutor to ensure medicine supply and to advance issues like intellectual property and public health initiatives in Mexico’s pharma sector.

Formerly known as Rx&D, this is the industry association of innovative (brand-name) pharmaceutical companies in Canada. IMC’s 40+ member companies include global pharma firms and leading Canadian life sciences companies that research, develop, and market new drugs and vaccines in Canada. IMC advocates for policies that expedite drug approvals, protect patents, and improve market access for new therapies. It also works on partnerships for healthcare system innovation and promotes the value of pharmaceutical innovation to Canada’s health and economy. IMC members account for the majority of private-sector R&D investment in Canada’s health sector.
Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) phrma.org
The principal trade association for innovative biopharmaceutical companies in the United States. PhRMA represents over 30 of the country’s leading research-based pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. Its member firms develop and manufacture the majority of new prescription drugs and therapies. PhRMA is a powerful lobby on healthcare and trade policy - advocating for strong patent protections, FDA modernization, and reimbursement policies that support drug innovation. PhRMA companies invest heavily in R&D (over $100 billion annually in recent years) and the association often highlights the role of the biopharma industry in advancing medical breakthroughs and public health.
